Having worked in the handmade paper industry for the last 16 years, I developed my love for sustainable living, handmade products and women empowerment. I made literally thousands of invitation cards for 14 years using our very own Philippine handmade paper made from abaca, salago and cogon grass fibers, all indigenous in Mindanao region.
After 24 years, I rekindled my love for painting in 2014 but I never left the handmade paper industry. Instead, I found ways to incorporate my art with making handmade sustainable products locally-made in collaboration with the local artisans I’ve worked for the past 13 years. That started a social enterprise for me – Aireescreates Design & Paperie where all my passion and advocacies unite – passion for art-making, sustainability, supporting our local artisans and women empowerment.
